ACC Cabin Filter I wanted to change the ACC Cabin Filter, but where is it located?
On Wed, 22 Feb 2006 09:45:18 -0500, David Brodosi waffled on about something:
Again, using my psychic powers, I'll say E36, and it's accessible from underside of the dash.
Unfortunately my psychic powers also suspect you're driving a left hand drive (okay, not psychic, the .usf.edu is a giveaway), so I can't give you directions of how to get to it as my steering wheel is on the other side of the car.
Dodgy.
I don't know because (again) you failed to mention what kind of car you have. But I do know that you should start posting in plain text...
Assuming it's a LHD E34 as per an earlier post, it's in the passengers footwell. Accessible after removing the glove box. Mike.
Where is the ACC Cabin FilterDear Sir,
- First, you would say "Please tell me where ..." It should be far more polite !
- Second, people don't like bold characters as well as capital letters.
- Third, html messages are generally prohibited in the newsgroups. Please use plain text instead.
- Forth, since you're in the BMW group and provided that a wheelbarrow isn't equipped with AC, I assume you're talking about a car.
- Fifth, your question is very imprecise. Please come back to us with more information and a lot more politeness.
I'm sorry to remind you these basic rules but my mom gave me this education and I 'm proud of that.
Thanks in advance and best regards

This is very sad. You really didn¹t need to post a crap message like this. I received 6 messages to me personally with a reply, and to each one I posted a very big thanks for their effort to assist me. You of course just posted BS and frankly are an ass!
THANKS FOR NOTHING.
IF YOU WERE TO READ ALL OF MY POST, THREE IN A ROW, MY FIRST EMAIL WAS VERY POLITE AND THANK EVERYONE FOR ANY ADVICE THEY HAD TO OFFER AS WELL AS WISHED THEM A GOOD DAY.
YOUR MOM SHOULD HAVE ALSO TAUGHT YOU; IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL!!

No need to answer again. TIA.

Your lack of basic writing skills is offending to me. Please familiarize yourself with the proper way to use a question mark after a sentence and improve your grammar before bothering to post again. Thanks.

You're making the mistake of assuming since he has a .edu email address that he has a clue - and knows what HTML is.
He is basically clueless and rude. Easy one to add to the kill-file though..

[...]I sincerely apoligize for this offending lack of grammar. However I'm making all the efforts I can to be readable, understandable and polite. I attempt to quote properly and I always re-read my messages before posting. That's quite rare nowadays. Do you convince? I'm sincerely sorry (again) if my English or US grammar or mixed is as bas as you tell. I promize, next time, to post in French language. I'll wait for your answer and we'll see who wears the dunce's cap! Should you prefer Italian or Spanish, No problemo Sir.
I'd also be very pleased if you could tell me where I was wrong. It's an opportunity for me to improve my skills and you can make sure that i'll learn the lesson.
The effects of the html are obvious here: a part of the object precedes the first sentence of my message when it's converted by OE. I noticed that twice after I received the message I just posted. The question mark is also a side effect of the OE's automatic translation of html into plain text . This is a good example of the disagrements html can cause in a plain text forum.
Sorry all, I'm fully off topic. Hmmm! how could I manage to get On topic again? I propose to talk about bad smells generated by the AC.
Some days, there's a rather sour smell coming from the ventilation circuit. It lasts for some minutes after I start then it fades away. I drive a Z3. Where should I look at and what may I do to eliminate the odour?
TIA and Best regards
If you have a look at OE (spit) ;-) settings you should be able to turn off HTML for newsgroup postings.
Trick is either to turn off the AC a few minutes before ending your journey. Or to get one of the deodorisers from your dealer or local car accessories place. To use these you set the system to recirculate and spray it into the interior air intake.
Dunno if you get 'Febreeze' in your part of the world, but in the UK this works fine - at a lower cost than the specialised stuff.
(In this international newsgroup, some poster objected to English that poster considered substandard.)
Good grief! (Mon dieu!) There is no need to apologize. Your English is a lot better than my French (certainment!), understandable, and, I suspect, better than that of the poster who was whining about your grammar. Here is one English idiom you might find useful in the future: "Consider the source."
There are some Usenet groups devoted to English (and others to French, etc., of course). Consider looking at alt.english, alt.english.usage, alt.languages.english, and alt.usage.english. They should be good resources for you. Also, consider their .uk counterparts, which you might find more useful if you live in France.

Since this was my first post to the group (A), and since there are several ways to post and read news groups (B), that maybe your alt.autos.bmw rules were not posted. I have submitted several questions across multiple groups and not one time did anyone spam me like this.
The polite way would have been to simply say, please tell us what year and model, and please post using plan text, and not HTML.
To those of you who did post a reply, thank you for your time, and sorry for post in HTML. I had no idea that my default html post settings in exchange would cause the French to start rioting again. So please, Frenchie don't burn your BMW's in protest.

I don't suppose you would care to explain what it is about my post that set you off...since I wasn't responding to you, but to frischmoutt, and the one *he* was responding to was also not you. Also, I don't understand why a Usenet post that does not quote or refer to you could be spam.
Or--perhaps more likely--was this just a simple case of being new to this whole Usenet posting thing, and not noticing who was quoted?
Puzzled,
JRE

Did you ever stop to thing that different programs act in different ways? When I read a posting, it is read in order of the thread. Since you happened to be the last one to post to this thread, it added the quote from you. Not that my message was targeting you, but the thread.
It started when frischmoutt flamed me for not saying pretty please with sugar on it, not knowing that people have problems reading html posts, and forgetting to add my year and model number. People were quick to call me an idiot, clueless, etc. for posting with html and not saying pretty please. What do you think? Was this warranted?
I missed the original post as it had to do with something my car doesn't have but here's what I see now. I see someone who apparently tried to ask a legitimate question and for one reason or another (probably the HTML) someone decided to be a dick. Your use of english is better than others I have seen post here and believe it or not they get answered. As for the post being in HTML, this normally gets a polite note from someone that this is a non-HTML newsgroup (as I believe most actually are). I hope you got the answer you needed as the point of this group is to help each other. Unfortunately once in a while we get some narrow minded idiot who wants to show his back side.
Best of luck and have a great day...
BTW - For those that must know, I did read this post and it's not in HTML :)
