1989 Camaro Transmission

My '89' 4 speed automatic transmission slips when trying to shift from

2nd to drive. The engine is a 2.8 with A/C. Does anyone know what the transmission might be - - like a 700-R4 or something like that. Any ideas on repair cost ver. junk-yard?

Thanks....

Tony

its a 700r4, i have had them replaced before and there not that much. if you dont plan o keep the car long go to the junk yard and it will cost between $150 and $200. ifyou plan to keep the car for a long time i would go with having it rebuilt, the cost depends on the shop you go to and how bad the trans is. your best bet is to call a local trans shop that youknow is good and get a price.just remember some shops may do it cheaper but the quality is not always there so go to a shop you trust
