Dose anyone know was my truck built with seat belts ? Is it illegal not to have them ? Feel free to give any outher info about my truck if you know something. thanks truck owner Scott

Scott, I had a 1966 C-10 with factory seatbelts... but I dunno if they had them in the 65's or not. I'm not sure what year it was that they were made mandatory.
If it didn't come with them then you don't legally have to have them.

I don't know about your State, but in Florida you'll need belts. I have a ticket to prove it. Good Luck, Mike

A ticket for what? As long as your vehicle was made BEFORE seatbelts were made mandatory you shouldn't need them. If the vehicle was legal when it was made it's legal now.

I am from Canada and the seatbelts weren't installed untill 1967 unless ordered. In B.C. where I live only vehicles equipped with belts require the useage. I installed a pair of seatbelts in my 52 Chev pickup but can't say how safe they are. I can't see the requirement for aftermarket belts installed. They would not be safe.

Hmm... sounds like a bunch of BS to me. I've been there done that with my old '76 ford that only had factory lap belts. I got pulled over 2 different times by damn cops who thought I didn't have my seat belt on. The first one basically apoligized for the inconvenience and let me go on my way... the other one tried to tell me that I needed to install shoulder belts in it for it to be legal... even gave me a damn ticket for it!
After going to the court date and explaining it to the judge, he immediately threw the case out. According to IL law, you only need whatever the car was equipped with when it was manufactured. and if the car didn't have seatbelts, then you didn't need them.

And to think we thought it would get better once Ryan left... probably would have if Rod Blow-goat-avich wasn't the one elected. He has yet to prove that he has any kind of brain in his head.
I would be in Heaven if they would elect someone who wasn't from the state's asshole (Chicago).
