1999 Chevy Blazer Waterpump

Hi Folks,



Our 1999 Chevy Blazer needs a new water pump. I need assistance in removing the fan from the pump because they appear to be pressed together. The Service Manual recommends a J 41240 tool to remove the fan clutch. Can anyone provide some directions as to how this is done? Is the J 41240 tool necessary?



This water pump is much different than a water pump on a 1979 Olds.

Threaded together. You'll need a 1-7/16" open end wrench to fit the big nut on the fan hub and a way to hold the pulley. Some people make do with a strap wrench.
