OT. XM

I am posting here because I have seen Chevy mechanics post answers. Question I have is about XM satellite in my 2011 Chevy Cruze. I have an LT model, and Satellite is supposed to be standard. I bought the Cruze used, (Love it too), it was a rental.

Satellite is not installed. The car has the satellite antenna, and when I called XM, they said the Chevy dealer can just install a chip in the radio, and satellite will work. Spoke to two dealers, and they said everything would have to be changed, at a great expense. Are they correct, or XM?

How difficult is it to get to the Satellite antenna cable? Is it already run to where the radio is? I want to add a portable XM receiver, and wanted to know if I can use the antenna already installed. Anybody have an idea?
