Travelling at 60 mph, with cruise engaged, the speedo flatlined after noticing the cruise's dropping out. Suspecting either the input or output speed sensor, I limped the car 20 miles to home.
Consulted my AllData subscription and what I had read here also. I ordered, from Advance Auto, an input sensor. Called a friend abou using his place, 15 miles from here, and after his come ahead, went to parts store. They scanned diagnostics first b4 actual purchase. Ooops, it was the output. So $25 lighter in the pocketbook, went to the friends and replaced the defective unit. Nice simple fix.
