Is that an Exner design? I dimly recall seeing a few of these running around Detroit when I was a kid.

Nope, Elwood Engle replaced Virgil Exner in time to rework most of the '63 cars, with pretty much the only exception being the Imperial. The '65 Dart is on the same bodyshell as the '63.
They are fantastic cars. I still miss my '65 (but my '62 Lancer helps take the hurt away! ;-{)} )
