And we supply this same set brand new for £8.00 including shipping UK and to Europe. Common sense will tell you not to buy used dies.
It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold. I remember "Donny" saying something like:
Why don't you f*ck off with your adverts?
Why not ? Manufacturing quality of modern dies is piss-poor unless you're selling real ones (Presto et al) - and they cost rather more than £8
Last time I sold BSF dies it was in _ton_ quantities as scrap metal (mil-surplus after the great shift to UNF). I've rarely handled anything so damned awkward to shift and worth so little.
Basically there are only 2 qualities of taps, dies etc. Those made of carbon steel, aimed at DIY's. IMO not worth buying, as they don't last 5 minutes. Or those made from High Speed Steel, (HSS), and what the professional goes for. IME, if they haven't got HSS stamped or engraved on them, the chances are that they are made from cheap carbon steel. And you don't have to pay £8 for reasonable quality HSS dies. Mike.
Granted, but equally there's a lot of rubbish with HSS stamped on it. Most of it even _is_ "HSS" But there's still a big difference in quality, if you care about accuracy or thread quality.
