Painting chrome

Does anyone have any suggestions about painting chromed parts? I want to spray a few items in Satin black. Among these are the door handles, which obviously are subject to quite a bit of wear & tear.

I have had suggestions about using "etch primer", but I can't find any referrences or sources of this stuff.

There is a paint supplier that attends many of the classic shows. I buy my etch primer there. I would expect them to be at Beaulieu next weekend. I can't remember who the dealer is, but the product is Upoxy Super Etch.

I have found it to be good stuff. If you are desperate, I'll sell you my paint and get some more from Beaulieu as I don't have any spraying to do yet. All my vehicles need extensive repair work first. :-(

Just get an electro plating company to strip the chrome items before you want them, no need for buggering about then. Note that the item must be cleaned properly before spraying in case the paint reacts to any chemicals used in the stripping process.
