Uncool Britannia

I had an Austin Princess 1.8HLS for some years back in the early 80's. "P" reg, it had the usual issues with hydragas struts needing replaced but it never actually let me down, and it was the perfect "courting machine" with all its interior space, hahaha. Badger.

Well no I didn't, I stated that my father did. Presumably under the impression that the garage that sold him the car should fix the fault.

: : Surely, I can't be the only one who thinks that Jerry's newly adopted : sig is the ultimate irony...

And which hovel did you crawl out of to post that comment?...

BTW, you obviously have read any of my other comments as my usual sig like is thus;

"Grimly Curmudgeon" wrote in message news: snipped-for-privacy@4ax.com...

: Hey Jerry, where did you filch the sig from?

Can't remember now but someone used it on Usenet, against someone like the clueless Firth, about 8 or 9 years ago.

: : Keep bashing the rocks, Jerry. Someday it will all make sense.

Not everyone is like you Grimly, how is you community service sentence going?...

You really are a drooling moron Jerky. Tell me where on Google does it give that attribution? The majority of persons using and misquoting that phrase attribute it to the wrong person, Edward Flaherty, who admitted himself that he was only quoting from someone else. That someone else was Jeff Preston. Certainly when I typed it onto Google the first few hits all attributed the phrase to Flaherty.

You've been caught out again Jerky.

I didn't say it was In fact it's clear you don't know the attribution or even the quote because you got it wrong.

Because it would make you look just a little less of a tit than you look at present.

I strongly suspect you're a f****it. The difference is that I'm right and you're wrong.

You can get back to telling your habitual lies now.

: : You really are a drooling moron

Firth talking about himself again.

[snip]

I'm glad you've come to your senses at last Jerky. Now do f*ck off and play on a live railway line, there's a good boy.

I've often seen 50°C at dash vent in UK.

Cracking dashboards is a problem in hot climates. Other thermoplastics may lose shape.

Styrene at 400°C is about the lowest temp that stuff the manufacturer puts in a car interior will autoignite at. Paper or PVC = 450°C. Though some vapour given off by heating the car may have a flash point lower than that but that takes a source of ignition to start the burn.

Not Centigrade, but *Fahrenheit* 451 rings a bell, for some reason...

Fahrenheit 451 was the title of an Isaac Asimov story

Jim

Allegedly the temperature for spontaneous combustion of paper. I think I might have a copy of the book somewhere but I am too idle to search it out.

Not a fan of CSI? There was an episode called just that which explained it.

Yes, I know that. I was light-heartedly trying to point out that the prior poster had confused Fahrenheit and centigrade for the ignition point of paper.

Sorry. I misinterpreted "for some reason..." to indicate that you couldn't put your finger on it.

Obviously you could ...

Jim

Hmm. Now did I miss that particular episode or have I just forgotten it like so much else these days. :-(

Again, we agree about some of your problems.

No, you're a total tossbag, it's true.

Ha ha, you posted to uk.test and alt.troll, you retard.

Again, what I actually said in the message Firth replied to can be found here;
