Stalling after airbag replacement

Mar 28, 2005 2 Replies

Durango 99, replaced airbags and engine stalled immediately after starting. Little bit of gas would keep it running, tho. Check Engine did not light. After disconnecting & reconnecting the battery it now runs fine. I wonder what could be the problem here? Airbag control module was replaced as well, could it have interfered with PCM or something? Airbag light is off btw...

Presumably, when you replaced the airbags, you disconnected the battery. This erased the memory in the PCM and it had to relearn the basic idle parameters. It sometimes takes a few minutes of idling/driving to do this.

The battery had been disconnected before with no adverse effects on idle speed. OK, let's hope it's just an "isolated incident"...

thx! Peter
