I have recently aquired a superb Fiat coupe.
the aircon does`nt work....Does anybody know if this is a common problem on coupes?

Yes. Have the same problem with mine. It works, but does not cool enough. Try to get it flushed and refilled.

Before you do anything else, check that the pollen filter, under the windscreen wipers, is not clogged up with flys and dirt.

Good point. A clogged filter will only reduce the airflow rate into the cabin and will make the cooled air a little colder due to the increased time the air spends passing through the cooler.
