breakers yards

If you mean Auto Salvage Yards. Then the answer is Yes, there are a good number of them online.

There are one or two that specialize in Camaro's, Trans-Am's, and Fire Bird's.

If you post the area that you are from, as well as what year you need parts for, some one here may know of one to send you to. Charles

Most auto salvage yards will ship items internally as long as you send payment before they ship. Shipiing on larger items will be expensive.

On a 85 the seat belt webbing is sewn around ancors that bolt to the floor. Same with the female side. If you need rear seat belts with bolts, I can probably sell you a pair. Charles

I've got rear seatbelts already, what i need is the bracket that is usually welded above the wheel arch for the shoulder point to attach to. I know it was a factory option. Hence i think i need to get them cut out of a car which already has them regards david

I have not seen a 1982 to1992 Camaro, Firebird, or Trans Am with rear shoulder belts.

If it was an option it was a low production option. Charles

Charles Bendig spilled my beer when they jumped on the table and proclaimed in

It also could have been a country-specific option or standard...

Here is the best thing to do, go to the nearest GM dealer there, that can get parts for Chevrolets and Pontiacs. Have them look in a parts catalog. Get the GM part numbers, and correct gm parts names. Then post them here. With that data we can attempt to help you find what you need.

It may have been a export only option. Vuxhall & Opel are owned by GM. Thjeir dealers might be able to order Chevrolet & Pontiac parts. Charles

That's an export option. Fat chance of finding a car here that has them.....

If still around, they will be big bucks from GM as they are specific to export cars.

it's NOT an export option. the cars I've seen it on had them fitted long before they were personally imported into the UK.

thanks anyway

I'll say it again....

It's an export option. It was NOT required for cars that were sold here. Cars that had it either were GOING to be exported or WERE destined for export and never got sold to those countries.

Hence, those cars that had them originally "before" being exported were INTENDED to go to countries (aka Europe among others) that REQUIRE them.

The US DID NOT require them until some time afterward. My 1989 Cavalier DOES have them, but not all cars of that vintage necessarily do.

Q: Where do you think the F-bodies were built?

A: They were built in the USA, to conform to the vehicle laws/rules of the UK before being imported there...

So, that (Among other reasons) tells me that Joe (Bigjfig) is correct. It's an export only "option" for that year.

As I said, if you're looking for export spec type parts on junked cars here in the States, there's a fat chance of finding those here.

Try putting a parts request on

ok i'll admit defeat to bigjfig's knowlege maybe it was required in Germany or somewhere but there are no GM dealers in UK Firebirds were never officially imported into the UK. Cars could only be imported personally , not through a dealer and any required modifications done in country (eg. red-> orange turn indicator)

anyhow :) what about these salvage yards?

cheers david

If it was export only, as you suspect, to Germany...that might be the only place to find them, unless you are lucky enough to find one in the UK somewhere...

Or, if you're feeling creative, you might be able to borrow one from your friend's car, and get copies manufacturered/make them yourself...

Unfortunately, I'm out of answers for you now...

I have a '92 Formula rear shoulder belts on the fold-down rear seats. Maybe it was a Canuck-only option, as it's not the first I've seen.

By 1992, it was a requirement. But! The belts and other items may be different.
