Went to put my Explorer in 4 low today. Nothing. Tried 4 High. Again, nothing. The button lights do not come on, and the dash lights do not come on. I have checked all 4WD fuses, all seem good.
Suggestions?

The motor which operates the transfer lever has frozen. This is a common problem, especially if you don't use the FWD very often. It's about a $250 part + labor. After you get it fixed shift it into FWD at least once a week to keep it from freezing up again.
Which FWD? Does it have to be LOW FWD or is High FWD good enough? Tom
Alltel, took the motor apart. It looks like new, turns freely not frozen.
Neither 4 lo or 4 hi work. No lights on buttons, no relay click, no noise at all when you press buttons.
my 94 explorer is doing the same thing no 4x4, did you find out the problem? thanks
