92 Explorer transmisison problems; D = OD

My -92 Explorer transmission started to act weirdly. First there were small problems on the torque converter locking while putting into OD. Car would not move anywhere, just a small whine from the tranny. then either after going through D, or waiting for a while car would start moving ok. Had the transmission flushed and fluid changed.

After this OD would not lock at all. When changing directly from OD to D,2,1 same thing, just a whine and no torque converter locking. Even R does not work after this. To get it back ok need to put into P, then R and any other gear than OD. When going directly from P to D (also 2,1) everything works fine, torque converter locks.

The weird part. D position is actually OD, there is 4 gears, shifting to OD as normally at about 45mph.

There's even more. Just recently even D is starting to give trouble. Only when engine/tranny warm though. If you wait for engine to cool down D still works (as OD). Have not checked the fluid at all these scanarios, but normally it looks to be ok level. Does not smell and looks like new.

Any clue, what could be the problem?
