Can the bearing be replaced on belt tensioner 4.0 SOHC '98

AFAIK, service parts are not available. Additionally, this is a life safety device and I would recommend replacement in any case.

I think he's talking about the serpentine belt tensioner, not the seat belt tensioner.

The pulley w/bearing is not available from the dealer, at least that's what they told me, but any flaps should have it for under 20 bucks. I got mine at O'Reillys. H

If its the same setup as the old 4.0 OHV, you can use the 'generic' (Autozone, O'Rielly, etc) pulley with the proper amount of backspacing (washers) and careful assembly.

So far mine has gone about 50k in this configuration.

I can only suggest that I was caught in a mind warp....... replaced more seatbelt parts in the last week than I've replaced in the last five years...... s'funny how the mind works.

As for THAT bearing..... I THINK that the bearing is usually a 6203 (industry number). If the pulley is steel, change the bearing - if the pulley is plastic, change the pulley.

A few weeks ago, I replaced both pulleys, idler and tensioner, with parts from O'reilly's. They were identical to the originals, right down to the molding marks on the plastic tensioner pulley. I'd be very surprised if they aren't OEM. Anyway, no shimming was required. They were direct replacements. This was on a 2001. H
