I have a 2001 Exmplorer Sport. It has a factory in dash changer that doesn't work. It is color coordinated to the rest of the dash and also a larger than standard slot (maybe 1.5 size slot). I know I can get kits that will make any stereo fit. To me, these don't look nearly as good, The current stereo is beige and the kit/stereo would probably be black or silver, sticking out like a sore thumb.
-Are there any replacements that have a good fit/look?
-If I buy a used one, did these have encoding to make them only work with the car installed or is this car too old?
-Would dealers still have these new? I have to imagine they do, but are very expensive.
-Is there somewhere that fixes these? Only the cd part doesn't work.
