DTC

Anyone know how I might retrieve the Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTC)? from my

97 Explorer?

How to clear the codes?

Thanks!

You'll need a scan tool - there are cheap ones that only do cheap stuff, there are better ones that do a bit more and there are real good ones that can be difficult to use to their fullest capabilities.

I might also suggest a shop manual.....

You need an OBD II scanner from your local auto parts store. You can clear the codes by disconnecting the battery for several minutes (30?) or find the right fuse and pull it for the same amount of time.

AutoZone stores will often give you a free readout -- no need to buy your own if you're not in the biz.
