flamin fords

congratulate me. I guess I am a new member. My 5 week old 2003 Explorer spontaneously combusted in the parking lot of my job. It happened to be a hospital parking lot and had been parked for 1 hour when it happened. I am still waiting to hear from ford but preliminary reports from the fire dept and my insurance believe it began under the dash. Any suggestions?

Wait for the report. Without it, you have no way of telling what happened, and thus no suggestions can be made that will mean anything. What could cause it? Vandalism, something you did, a defect in workmanship or materials, or even being shot with an incendiary round. Without a determination on the actual cause, one's as good a reason as another.

Just curious if you had any third-party stuff installed -- new radio, remote car starter, DVD, new-style halogen headlights, etc.

Whoops - meant to post that question to the original poster.

That's OK, I asked that also. "...something you did..."
