1997 Exploder problem x 2

You start it and it goes to 1100rpm like it should then drops instantly to 400rpm and almost dies then idles like a new truck.. Anyone have any ideas? If you rev the gas pedal and keep your foot on it it is fine...if you give it a quick rev and pull your foot off quick, it almost dies.. drops to

400 rpm and then idles back up.. I assumed it was the tps sensor but I scanned it with a good OBD II scanner and it says no codes, and emissionn status green (good)... anyone heard of this ? I have cleaned the throttle body.., new plugs, new oil, and going to replace the filter... under load (in drive or reverse) it is fine.. jjust in park and on start up it does this almost stall when you give it a quick rev.. thanx for your info on this :)

Could be your idle air control valve is a bit sticky. You can spray it down with throttle body or brake cleaner and see if that helps but may have to by a new one.

I would agree with Ashton C. I have cleaned my IAC valve several times. On my T-Bird 4.6 it is very easy to remove and clean. Its a small cylinder attached to the front of the throttle body (on the Bird) with an electrical connection. Two 5/16 screws hold it in place. I usually use some type of instrument cleaner and then blow it out and let it dry before reinstalling.
