95 (N) Escort 1.8TD Help

May 11, 2004 1 Replies

Just got a 1.8TD escort and driving along, went to break and my foot went through the floor! The pads are good, and the brake fluid level is at max and not going down. The handbreak on the other hand can be pulled all the way up! Think it has anything to do with that?

ANY help would be brilliant!

Thanks in advance Trevor

Hiya Trevor,

Did this excess pedal travel happen suddenly? If yes, then it's probably the master cylinder rubbers.

If not, even tho' the handbrake pulls all the way up, does it actually work? If you pull on the handbrake do you get a pedal? If so then adjust your rear brake shoes.
