I bought a 2000 focus 2 years ago. They day I took it home, I could not
start it. The dealer ship replaced the ignition at no charge to me. A year
later (almost to the day of purchase), the ignition broke again. The key
would not turn. The dealership replaced the ignition at no cost to me.
Yesterday, the igniton broke again (8 months after it was last replaced).
The dealership and Ford Canada will not fix it this time without me paying
for it (approx $300) because it passed its warranty criteria which was 1
year or 20,000 km. I have put 25,000 kms on the car since it was last
replaced. I called Ford Canada to complain, and they told me there was no
recall on this particular issue.. WHY? I asked.. because not enough people
have complained about it. The dealership where I purchased the car, and
another Ford dealership told me this was a common problem.. Why won't FORD
take responsiblity for this problem and fix the ignitons? I am very mad
at Ford. When the ignition is repaired this time, I am going to sell the
car, and never , never, never buy a FORD again. That is too bad, because I
really like this car..
