2004 F-150 Key/Remote

I am about to buy a 2004 F-150 with only 1 key/remote. Can I order another one online or is that something I need to go to a dealer for?

If you only have 1 key, you will probably have to go to the dealer to get a new key and get it programmed.

You may be able to find a key online, but will have to go to the dealer to get it programmed. If you have 2 keys that are already programmed, you can program any number of other keys with the truck. It part of what makes the PTD (Passive Theft Deterrent or some such) work.

BTW, my dealer only charged $60.00 to program.

"Only"? :-) The hardware store only charged me ~$2 for a new key. (sometimes I'm really glad I don't have a new vehicle)

Some dealerships charge $100 to $125 per key!!
