Want to know if the dealer can reset the factory settings on the ECC or not. Truck just does not seem to have the power it should.

They can certainly reprogram the ECC with the code that came out of the factory.

Perhaps one of the tuner programmers might net you some more "oomph".

there have been a multitude of updates for the 6.0. Four in the first 3 months of production. Have you checked your air and fuel filters lately?

Vehicle only has 8500 miles on it, air filter is clean, like new.

What kind of updates? Are they software updates for the computer?

Depends what you want to do. $400-$1000 search for edge programmer, banks, if you wanna see the high end stuff. Be advised that Ford explicitly states in their owners manual that use of these will void your warranty.

I bought a Superchips programmer for my V10 powered SD. BIG difference in tranny performance, minor difference in power and torque. The tranny shifts much more firmly and I was able to fine tune the shift points to my liking. Only real downside is the need to run 91 octane gasoline.

I think I paid about $350 for the thing.

Something to be aware of when "chipping" a diesel.. You will need an EGT gauge/pyrometer to monitor exhaust gas temps if you really start boosting the power..

There's a guy around here with an '02 Excursion diesel that leaves lights like a scared rabbit. About all you can hear is the turbo howling as it spools up. He's got a Bully Dog setup under the hood and claims 150hp over stock and something like 800 lb ft of torque.. Dunno how accurate that is, but it's definitely accelerates like it's got some serious power.

Well, after researching the truck history with Ford dealer, I found out = that several drivability updates to the computer have never been = installed as called out by service bulletins. Truck was built in Aug =

2003 but never had the ECM updates installed. =20

SO, it is going in this week to get that done.

Hope it helps....
