Gentlemen:
I've been contemplating an 4wd conversion to my 1991 Ranger, including an engine/trans swap since it currently has the 2.3L.
My questions: 1) Will the Ranger handle a 302 or would I do better simply going with a V6? 2) Is there any engines (V6 or larger) that wouldn't require me to swap out my Mazda transmission? 3) Would the 4wd conversion necessitate 4x4 components from another Ranger or could I use, say, components from an F-150? 4) Would I do better just to buy an older 4x4 and fix it up rather than doing the conversion?
