Howdy,
I've got an 88 F250 4x4 with the independent front axle. When I back up the wheels tilt out at the bottom with massive reverse camber. Driving forward straightens them out.
I've jacked it up and pryed all differnt directions, and I just don't see where the tilt is coming from. I've seen other Ford 4x4s backed into places and showing the same thing, so I know this isn't an uncommon problem.
Anyone out there know what gives?

Don't you think they're just toed in? When you back up, the toe is spreading them. I bet if you jack it up and set it down again they'll go back to normal. I always back my truck down the driveway (so the bed doesn't get full of rain water) so I see it every day.

I had a 86 f250 2wd diesel and it started doing that when the front I beam bushings wore out. You might check that. I now have a 97 f250 4x4 diesel and have noticed it does it also, but I haven't found out any reason why. The 86 stopped doing it after I replaced the bushings. I always told people it was Ford's automatic aligning front end. good luck dave
