Poor idle - TPS or IAC?

The truck idles poorly and often dies in park or neutral. I did a complete tune up but still the same thing. I think it is either Throttle Position Sensor or Idle Air Control motor.

I tried to pull the codes to tell definitively before replacing parts but cannot get it to work just yet.

Question is, how often does TPS go bad? Is it more likely to go bad than IAC? Should I replace both? Should the throttle body be cleaned with carb cleaner?

Try tapping on the IAC, that is what I have been doing to my 99 ranger 4 cyl. I start the truck in the morning if it is idling rough, I turn it off, pop the hood, tap in the IAC, close the hood and start it back up, it will run great for a day or two. Repeat as necessary when it idles rough again. $110.00 for a new IAC at the Ford dealer.
