Random Switch on drivers side kickpanel on 1995 f-150

I have a 1995 f-150 pickup with a 351 5.8L V8 engine, automatic tranny, and there is a switch on the kickpanel close to the parking brake. when i switch it, nothing noticeable happens, i thought it was the fuel reset switch but that is on the passenger side, it is just a chrome switch any ideas??

Best way to tell is to pull the panel and see where the wiring to the switch goes. Could be anything , or nothing anymore.

That's the switch for the flux capacitor. Be careful using it when you're above 88 miles per hour, as it may send you back in time.

my first used car at 15 was a 62 renault dauphine , it had two factory switches on top of the steering column and i had no op. man.. Didn't take to long to find the one switch operated four small side indicators ( one in each fender ). The other switch was for a one horn or two horn blast from operation of the horn ring. You've heard them on any older french ( paris ) movie cop scene. Eeeeeeeeee Awwwwwwwwww Eeeeeeeee Awwwwwwww took a couple month to figure that one out by chance , was fun tho odometer override??

Impossible to do without disabling the speedo also. Sounds like a fabricated idea.

So?

Sounds like you don't see many different vehicles, or the shenanigans people try.

Hi -

It sounds like it's probably the manual overide to an alarm system. That was the common place for them. Do you have an alarm system (or reminants of one?...There probably will be a red LED light on your dash somewhere.) Chances are that if you don't know what it is, that you're alarm system isn't working anymore. The point of those switches were if the battery in the remote died and you couldn't shut off the alarm, you would turn the key in the on position and flip the switch which would kill the alarm. Also, could leave the alarm permanently off. Guess you could try by turning your key "ON" and flip the switch. If the LED goes steady on or off, you'll know.....

In 1971 a Ford dealership customer regularly rented a car for weekends but never put many miles on the odometer. One Monday after he returned the car the mechanic noted the speedometer did not work. He found the speedometer cable disconnected at the transmission, and a cork placed in the cable port.

Creative people will always find ways to cheat the system, even with today's electronic odometers

havent ya seen them speedos that operate from a magnet strapped on the driveshaft and a pickup mounted from the under side of the bed? I have.. If you disable the factory speedo, you can always put an aftermaket on there.. LOL

however the smart ones, just replace the cluster anymore, with one from a salvage yard..

France has laws that limit when a horn can be used. IIRC you can only use your horn within populated areas during daylight hours. It may be that the laws were less restrictive back then, but still required a less powerful horn in some instances.
