I have been having trouble getting the gear into first from a standing stop without speeding up the the engine. I have 100000 miles on the truck and it runs fine except getting it into first.
what can be don about it?

first, IMMEDIATELY check the fluid level in that thing
they tend to run low

Try pushing the clutch petal down about 1/2-3/4th of the way down not all the way down it seems to go in better that way.
