Stake Pocket: Corrosion Issues?

Got a used F150 on the way.

The plan is to have the bed sprayed with RhinoLiner and then construct an ad-hoc rack using 2x4s inserted into each of the 4 stake pockets.

I'm thinking that vibration will quickly wear away the paint where the 2x4s contact the sides/bottom of the stake pockets.

Has anybody had 2x4s in those pockets for any length of time?

Corrosion issues? Spray some RhinoLiner into each pocket?

An aggravating factor would seem tb salt water since the main use of this vehicle will be to carry windsurfing and kayaking gear to/from the beach.

I think I may have answered my own question: there are other issues - around the stress put on the uprights at highway speeds carrying boats/boards.

If you want to actually use your truck. Its gonna get dinged. And paints gonna get chipped. And those holes in the pics are at least 10 years away from rotting out. I could argue that its not a big deal. And 2 by 4 square corners don't fit the round staker holes very well. And the rack wasn't built very good either. It needed cross braces to keep it from flexing.

But to each his own.
