I have a 1990 Bronco with a broken torsion-bar which make lifting the tail gate very difficult. Are there alternative solutions to this problem. The torsion bar looks like it requires the whole tailgate to be disassembled to replace.

Actually, putting those in is not as bad as it looks. And no, there isn't a reasonable substitute.
Just a by the way the 2004 F-150-250 comes with one on the tail gate. Is the gate still removable? I haven't seen one yet but say it on TV.
