VIN Check on a possible stolen trruck...

what if its original sale was in canada ? would carfax show it ? or mexico. We have a similar thing here in australia called revs. well worth the $$ if you want to know the history of a car ( or not have it repossessed because it was still under finance)

My first guess would be that the VIN is incorrect. If the OP is interested in the truck he should clarify the VIN with the seller. AFAIK a few things will ALWAYS show up in the report:

One of the first things to come up in the Carfax report is where it was made. That Ford truck would have been made in Canada or the US and that would definitely show up. It will be registered with the dealership that originally sold it before anything else and that registration will show up in any report, although it does not say the name of the dealer.

There is another way to check the vehicle out. I have taken the VIN to a dealership and had them check it out on their database. It should show the original registration and the original warranty services if they were done at a dealership. The vehicle I checked on also showed milages at the service checks and the registered owner at the time of the checks. You may have to have permission from the owner of the vehicle before the dealership will give you the information.

Haven't you all beat this dead dog enough, does he or does he not have a clear title??? If not then the vehicle is probably stolen.. doesn't take a computer wiz to figure that out.

If he (or some previous party)bought a used dashboard from an autowrecker and swapped/installed it in a stolen pickup, it wouldnt show up as stolen under the VIN.
