yellow seat connector on 97-03 F150

Hello,After I swapped bench for bucket seats on my F150, the yellow connectorwire was too short to hook up. As a mechanic explained to me, it is fora pyrotechnic device that takes out slack on the seatbelts duringimpact. Not having the wire connected makes the "check airbag" lightturn on. I was thinking of splicing it myself, but I thought I'd checkhere first.1. Is my airbag functional without these being connected?2. If I were to splice the wire myself, what type of wire and splicingtechnique should I use (folks at the Ford dealership made it sound likeheart surgery)?3. If I were to leave things as they are, but wanted to get rid of the"check airbag" light, what's my best course of action?While at it, I wanted to disconnect the "seatbelts on" connector in theseat to keep from getting the nagging bell. Is that sensor connected toany other safety device or just the annoying bell?Regards,Paul

On my 03 Expedition I was able to turn the seatbelt warning sound off by doing a certain key on/off combination. Check your owners manual... Should be in there.
