The best wy to do it generally is to unbolt the engine mounts and
raise the engine up enough for pan to clear cross member. The way I do
it is to jack engine up by pan with a block a wood between jack and
pan to spread load (after mounts are unbolted) and then place a piece
of 2x4 or the like between engine mounts and frame and jack it back
down and remove pan (a peice of haed wood like oak or even yellow pine
works even better for this) Reverse process when pan is replaced.
