Fueling Issues

Nov 06, 2009 2 Replies

My 2000 LeSabre has begun puking gas at fill up. I have the gas gauge sending unit problem and using my trip meter as a guide, all has been fine up to this point. At my re-fill mileage, I figure I've got about 3 or 4 gallons left in the tank so it's not empty. Fuel has to be put in SLOW up to the 5 or 6 additional gallons point. After that I can set the fuel auto stop tab and all is fine. Is this a venting problem? Why does it stop? What's the fix? Thanks.

Check the fill pipe. I don't know about this specific model but they are known to collapse on others. Not just GM either.

It is happening at the start of the re-fuel, not the end.
