89 chevy celebrity 2.8 v6 just bought it for $50, runs strong just has no acceleration power. when put to the floor the motor accelerates but the car continues to crawl at a very slow acceleration. I plan to drive it for about a month and then smash the piece of s*it in a demo derby. Im just wondering if there is a simple fix for the acceleration problem. thanks in advance

tranny fluid is full, it does slip a little and takes forever to kick into 2nd gear, however im beginning to believe that the problem lies in the fuel system somewhere, maybe filter or pump? this morning when i went to start it, just spit and sputtered and as soon as i touched the gas pedal it died. this went on for about a half hour until finally i pressed the pedal slightly as i turned the key and the car sputtered into a very sloppy idle. After revving it up with my foot to the floor it finally started to idle halfway normal. Am i possibly on the right track with the fuel system suspicion?? Possibly dirty injectors???
Almost definately timing/sensors. You got lucky and got it into a cadence. If it gets much worse, it won't start at all.
possibly a sensor, but i dont think its timing, im almost sure it in the fuel system somewhere, just need to find out where, but i cant spend alot of money on this P.O.S.!! thanks for the help
