xj40 '91 seatbelt conversion?

i have a 91 xj40 vdp with automatic seatbelts. the passenger side belt ALWAYS gets stuck. i have had this fixed about a year ago, now its going bad again. i personally hate the automatic seat belts, they are ugly, noisy and get stuck.

i cant imagine it would be too difficult to put mount new ones and disable the electrical unit for them. but i would really like to be able to cover up were the guide is, or just take it out and replace with a later model panel.

thanks!!

I am starting to experience the same problem in my 89. Tell me, is it true that you can have them fixed free at a Jaguar dealer because they are warranted for life?

yes they have a lifetime warranty. any authorized jag dealer will fix them for free. i took mine in a couple years ago, no prob, and they washed and vacumed my car too!

Just the motor and track are. Belting and latches are on your dollar.

Good to know; the retractible belts (on the track) on both sides are sometimes not retracting at all, or stalling partly retracted. Seemed to do it a lot the past couple of weeks when I had passengers in the car; I had to unlatch the shoulder belts at the track to drive the car, then they would suddenly retract after I'd driven a few minutes. They almost never do it when I'm alone.

Just before that problem started, I had been trying unsuccessfully to fix the driver's door handle/lock (driver's door isn't locked/unlocked when the passenger door is locked/unlocked, nor does it lock/unlock the other doors or roll up the windows when it is locked), so I'm wondering if I somehow affected the seat belts when I had the door apart.

I use to spray my belts with some Silicone Spray, then they will work like new again!

Only US model have those damn automatic belts. (who the h**l ever invented those...)

Buy new front doors and normal seat belts from Europe. I bet there are plenty in UK.
