97 wrangler..help please!

Hi!

I need a new socket (dealership calls it a 'pigtail') for the right front turn signal/park light. I have cleaned this thing repeatedly, and now i just guess there's not enough contact left to make a good connection. Nothing available at the dealership, unless I want to fork out lots of bucks for a HARNESS!! Any suggestions? I thought about trying something generic if available from autozone or somewhere, but I really don't want to have to modify the plastic the plug connects into... thanks!

Check the "Help" section of Autozone, Pepboys, etc. They might have something close (or with parts you can salvage)

Other possibility is call the junk yards for a wrangler that got burned/flooded/rolled or otherwise is nearly junk. That way they won't charge so much and let you cut the bit you need out of the harness.

Thanks! I'll definitely try the autozone, etc. part. I wish I had a good junk yard close by that had jeeps. The only one near me is over an hour away.....but i will try that if I have to.

If you haven't broken it you can easily build up the brass contact with a blob of solder.

The auto stores also sell pigtails really cheap and they 'are' really cheap so I advise the blob of solder on them just to make them stronger before using them. I had one wear out after 5 years anyway so I soldered a button blob on it.

True, just like fixing the blub.

I've never bothered with the contacts though. Usually the plastic bit that holds the spring goes sproing.
