Anyone else have complaints with 4Wd.com?

I tried to get a pair of wheel bearing retainers from 4W.com for my D-35 Non -C-clip axle (88 XJ) and after nearly two weeks I had to contact them just to find out they were on back order ( yes, they had my email and phone number) and "should be in next week.".

After waiting another week, I have cancelled the order. I don't want to, but I may have to get a pair from a junk yard if I can't find a pair elsewhere ... local Jeep dealer wants $35 US each!!!!

Haven't had any real problems with them apart from the occasional delay in getting things in. But then again most of the things I get from them are parts for future repairs.

You know you are pushing things when you start having to keep spare parts. ^_^

No argument there on the spare parts stockpiling, but since I use my XJ as a daily driver with little offroading I have no worries about dust/dirt, mud or rock damages.

I would have figure an offroad supplier, like 4WD would keep a few pairs of these plates in stock, however.

I've emailed Quadratec to see if they have any in stock. Should hear from them by Wedensday.

This A.M. I get an email from 4WD.com that says they've shipped the parts ... funny, isn't it, that the parts apparently came in and they couldn't notify me of it? Especially after I'd already contacted them once for info about the order?

I've already checked parts availability with and ordered from Quadratec so the 4WD.com stuff gets a "refusal to accept" and sent back.

I will never order from $WD.com again (dollar sign delibrate since all they care about is money), I don't recommend them to anybody.

OTOH, Quadratec has been helpful, prompt and has notified me of my order status ... all by noon local time (CO mountains)

Just food for thought. These folks deal with hundreds of customers a day. I know that expecting a call back is what we all hope for by way of customer service, but with the corporate mentality that is being shoved around everywhere, it's often not possible for the guy on the phone to do things like we did in the old days.

In the future, try David at Northridge. Even if you don't find your parts on his site, call him. He saved me a good chunk of $$$ on my recent johnny joint conversion and on other parts as well. Top notch service and he knows his stuff.

free shipping on orders over $100 too if I remember correctly.

Thanks! I check them out.

I placed my order with Quadratec on Monday morning and the parts arrived about noon today (9/16/10) local time.

My complaint with 4WD.com is that a decent IT or webdesigner could put hypertexts on the parts listings stating "out of stock" or even set up an automated response to an order via email and saved me the 4 week wait for parts for my daily driver.

Quadratec, by way of automated responses to my email, notified me of my order status within a couple hours.

IMHO, that's the way it should be.
