Not actual Jeep experience, but on a Chevy truck, that light comes on when one of the gauges(temp, oil press, volt or even fuel)hit one extreme or the other(too high or too low).

I don't know, not my post. These things got a coolant level sensor in the overflow? I don't know, I'm just brainstormin'.
