Bill's definition of a "real Jeep" pretty much boils down to any Jeep with 4 leaf springs from the factory.
Some people just can't adjust to the 4-wheel coil springs on a TJ which give a MUCH better, more civilized, and more comfortable ride, both on and off road, as well as more suspension travel in stock form, when compared to stock leaf spring Jeeps.

I gotta side with Bill, here. But, to go a little farther. Real Jeeps not only have leaf springs, REAL Jeeps have flat fenders!

A stock TJ would not handle a 1/4 ton? Myself and my buddy Steve=that(500lbs)...And gear.She rides quite well, thank you.Son.
Just to prove I have been paying attention:
Real Jeeps also have a c channel chassis and Dana 44s with 6 stud hubs. (I think my Waggy doesn't qualify because it although it has both of those, it has a nancy-boy NP229 transfer case, so I believe another Bill requisite is a gear driven transfer case). Bill hasn't made it clear whether a V8 is mandatory or optional, although he has pointed out he expects a to see an AMC 401 swap pretty sharpish.

I got the APEX model too and had that damned decal taken off before I'd drive it home!
Definately cheese....and considering EVERYTHING is called APEX. Have the equipment at my gym had APEX on it....
I'm not impressed with the seats! Got black/grey Wet Okele's on there and they improve it but yer ass still needs a sweat diaper!
I think the 401 is the only one that came with a forged crank - the 360 and

Part of the reason I'm doing this is because someone has removed half of the smog equipment and I think the computer is rather confused and running in open loop mode. I want a manual choke. As I mainly got it for its torque for towing stuff, I'll be happy with 250hp - it currently puts out 145 - around
