Why the heck would they? It looked as if it It was listed as a point of interest but what if it wasn't ?

The fact that some of you are surprised by this whole thread or are waiting for Billy to apologize makes me think that you don't read this group much.

In this group it's ok for Billy to post links to alcohol burning funny cars (because large displacement Detroit iron is the only way to go fast) but if someone mentions a Toyota Landcruiser they are in violation and will be told so.

I bitched about off-topic posting in another unmoderated newsgroup years ago and was told "it's like a water cooler where everyone gathers and can discuss whatever they want to".

I don't buy that anymore than I buy Bill's narrow interpetation of this RAMJ&W Charter.

The OP had a non-commercial, on-topic posting for Jeep parts. I checked out his auctions and didn't see anything I needed, but hopefully his stuff will sell.

IMNSHO the OP was fine and didn't deserve to be reported to the Abuse police.

The only thing I see wrong with this post is that there is no description of the items begin sold. You have to go to Ebay to find out. Too much work my my lazy self.

You are out of line Bill. The charter clearly states:

The OP is clearly selling a couple of extra items off of his Jeep. (They are all various soft top parts)

The fact that he is using e-bay as a vehicle to sell them is immaterial, the ***VENDOR*** is clearly non commerical, the vehicle is e-bay.

So fess up that you are being your usual ignorant, obnoxious self an appologize to Tim Fisher, Jim Smith, Kate, and the rest of those that you have insulted.

psst .. Roy.... he didn't insult me. He ignored me - more or less. Someone warned me in the beginning that he can be a curmudgeon, I made note and expect him to be a grump sometimes.

Note that it does *NOT* say that usenet posts cannot be made, only that

The argument has always been made that EBAY items are not "for sale", they are "for auction". A lot of people see that as a major distinction and get really annoyed when EBAY auctions are portrayed as "for sale". Usually, putting "FA" in the SUBJECT line instead of "FS" will keep you out of hot water, but that depends on the current mood of those that police.

Perhaps it is time to revise the charter, if everyone besides Bill is offended to personal eBay auction items. I don't think this violates eBay's Usenet policy, since our charter doesn't address eBay auctions by personal individuals, which is different from companies trying to sell their wares through eBay.
