I need to remove the fan clutch on a 2004 wrangler. How do they come off? any insight would be a great help. Thank to all TomP

On the same topic: how do you test a clutch fan on a static vehicle (ie boneyard) ?

You really can't. The viscous clutch should spin "somewhat" freely when cold but resist motion when hot.

On that subject, if it's like my ZJ then you just take the four bolts out that are holding it to the water pump. Might have to remove the belt first. On my ZJ the fan and shroud have to come out as one. p.s. put a piece of cardboard between the fan and radiator to protect the fragile fins from getting damaged.
