Does anyone have an idea of what the gear ratio is for a stock amc 20 out of an 86 CJ7?

What motor? Could be 2.73 - 3.73 for the 258, might be 4.10 in a four cylinder.

Gear Ration...............Didn't I eat some of those @ Beale AFB????
My 86 with the T5 tranny has 3.31's, but I also have the Dana 44 rear if that makes any difference.

If you have the Dana 30 front differential, then: Common gear ratios from '72-'75 were 3.73, from '76-'79 were 3.54, and from '80-'86 were 2.73
So it sounds like chances are you have 2.73 in your Dana 30 front end, so 2.73 in your amc20 rear end. I think you can look on the front end if it's a Dana 30 and try to find the tag that gives the axle ratio, but if all else fails then do this:

All you have to do is jack up one tire and put a mark on it and on the driveshaft and turn the one tire two turns while counting the driveshaft revolutions.
The spider gears mean you need to turn the tire twice with one tire only turning.
Mine turned the drive shaft about 3 1/3 turns which gives me the common
