Good use for scrap metal

They had a pile of "to be thrown away" metal where I work. They had some brackets that are used to rack mount network equipment that was made of some pretty substantial steel. I have two holes in the tub on my CJ, so I measured them and...

I have patches for the holes that I can weld in. Check out howthick they are:

After I get them welded in I'm going to scuff up the entire inside of the tub, then wipe it down with acetone, then apply two layers of "Herculiner" the whole shootin' match. I'll take pictures of the progress. I plan on doing this Saturday.

I just realized that picture might not be that helpful since there's nothing else in the picture to compare it to. I just checked and the patch plates are just a hair thicker than a nickel. That should be way more than enough.

Man, what is it with the carpet? hahaha! Every time I take a picture of something laying on my carpet, people comment on how nice the carpet is. I'm not sure if it's a joke or not anymore. :-) Here, for your viewing enjoyment, another shot of the carpet with different lighting. Oooh! Ahhh! ;-)

sorry, i meant it to be a joke. you know, seriously, that carpet is really nice. a couple years ago my wife and i got new carpet in the dining room. even after taking our shoes off at the door, it still turned to crap rather quickly - wear patterns and all that.

is the glock fixable?

even more off topic, did you get what you wanted for your baja? my bug is in about a million pieces and i would LOVE to sell it so i can buy a jeep. a lot of problems with that, though. i couldn't get what i have in it and no matter what, i couldn't afford to get a rubicon. i'd feel a little, well, you know, less than 'perfect' if i had to buy a jeep with accessories that are less than what my wife's rubi has. 8~)>

Yes. I already fixed it. Just needed a recoil rod/spring assy. I got a stainless steel one to replace the plastic one that is "stock."

Pretty much... I was asking $1000. I got $800 and 2 cases of MREs (2003...not old stuff), a brand new (never worn, still had the tag on it) camo set of coveralls, and a bunch of stuff like glow sticks and camo netting for the kids.

heh heh.. Well I got $800 for the bug and I figure I can get $1300 pretty easy for the truck and the Jeep was $3300 so I'm only out about $1200 for it. Unless you count the parts I've already started buying for it... ;-) Hey... is that the Fedex truck I hear out front...??? YES! IT IS!!!

I guarantee, if you head out to the drive through, the FEDEX guy will get there as soon as you're out of sight of your house. If you stay home, he'll come at 5:00 pm... and you'll be in the bathroom... in the shower... with the radio playing... :-)

Jeez, Travis! Cut that out! I don't have the budget for parts right now and you're making me feel all frustrated!

What else did you order??? Can I see? ;-)

LOL!

Now that is an original, for sure!

Looks sharp, not really to my taste, (non hunter) but nice all the same.
