Has anyone put a diesel into a Cherokee?

Hello All Well I have to say I know there is a lot to doing the conversion and it will take years for the conversion to pay for itself but when you get something into your mind you have to look at what is the proper ways to go. I have a lovely 90 4 door Cherokee that for being in Canada is pretty well rust free. The gas engine in it is good for another 10,000 miles give or take a few. So who has done what with something like this?

Thanks Stephen Cahill

Hello Bill We all know that Lump.I was thinking of the 1.9 or 2.0 VW Engine or a

5 or 6 cylinder MB engine. As for rolling on the Floor are you driving something that get better fuel milage than that diesel?

As my post said has anyone converted a vehicle to diesel that was gasoline. Stephen

If you must do this, please, keep it in Canada.

Or refer to this month's Scientific American where some folks are beginning to claim that it is the aerosol style pollutants that are far more dangerous for global climate change than modest changes in C02. The fine particles in diesel exhaust being the largest manmade example of aerosol particle.

That is just psychotic. The only good place to put an olds 350 diesel is in a junkyard. The usual swap involving those things, is to swap them out of whatever they came in, and install a 350 chev or ANYTHING else. Been there, done that.
