Jeep one fingered salute?

As a TJ owner, unless you are quite a bit more modified than my CJ, you should be waving far in advance of me. Someone from the NS Jeep Club (I think) posted a link about seniority of waves. I will always wave to a military Jeep or insane CJ/YJ long before they get a chance to wave to me.

I wave out of friendliness if I see anyone who looks like they might get their vehicle muddy; and if they interpret it as adultation for their vehicle, they are quite mistaken. f*k seniority.

It's mearly a friendly thing....this isn't the military....there's no rank or seniority. The wave is an acknowledgment of another person, probably of similar mind, that has similar tastes!

Sure...there are posers....most of which don't MOD their jeep. But I've seen a shitload of wannabe's that go overboard and MOD their jeep *ahem ahem*....

I hope you don't share the same thoughts of other Jeep'ers...cuz I'd just as soon shoot them ALL the finger then to play a little part in their supposedly 'feel-good' superior ranking!

It is NEVER acceptable to give someone a one finger salute because they didn't return your wave. Sound like to me you have some issues. Sheesh.

Personally in the city I never initiate a wave, too many possers, stock jeeps and otherwise clueless people. But if I happen to see a wave I'll return it.

Off road I wave to EVERYONE, 4 wheel drives of any flavor, ATV's, mountain bikers, hikers, motorcycles, it doesn't matter. I have something in common with those folks, a love of the outdoors. If they don't wave back, well it's their problem not mine.

Well with a ratio of probably 1:15 TJ owners who wave back and about 10:15 looking at me like I'm an idiot ...what's the point in the "friendliness". The fact that I never put doors on my Jeep even though it's -20C outside and the fact that my Jeep is caked in mud more times than not, etc etc etc indicates I'm well aware of what I drive ...and any real "Jeeper" in a stock TJ should initiate the wave and I will gladly wave back. I actually can't think of a time a fellow CJ'r and even most YJ's won't wave back.

That's my stance due to a lot of experience with waving to TJ drivers. By saying there's a "seniority" ...I'm not being rude, claiming more "eliteness" than anyone, or trying to say my Jeep is better ...I'm simply stating that because there ARE so many posers out there, it should be out of courtesy and friendliness that a TJ driver intitiate a wave so as to indicate "Hey, we both drive Jeeps! How's it going?!" instead of the usual "Wtf are you waving at?! You got a problem with me?!"

I did some work in a small town in Northern BC. (pop'n ~300). EVERYBODY waved at EVERYBODY!! didn't matter if you were walking or driving....everyone gave a nod and a small wave!

I went Jeeping 2 years ago with Alan "the Flatfender Freak" who posted that, and his club is super cool! They're great people.

I always get a kick out of the guys who are trying to get my attention so badly and waving so wildly, that it looks like they just might jump onto my hood as they pass to wave through the windshield! (mostly young TJ drivers)

In response to the "one fingered salute": if you flip me off just for not waving to you, and you catch me on a bad day, I might just follow you home and let you know what you did wrong.

Although not as "big" as a biker, I know I'm uglier. I can't pull off the stylish look of Bill in Polyester, but our shoulder accessories are simular.

you guys sound like a bunch of old ladies. i try to wave at fellow jeepers, somtimes my hands are busy. i also make more effort to wave at the customized Jeeps. I tend to only wave to the stock jeeps if they wave first. so basically if you want more waves, get some dirt on your jeep or customize it a little. Just my 3 cents.

Yeah really, I agree. I don't understand why some worry about this so much. I wave but I don't make a big issue out of those who don't or when I am too busy to wave to another Jeep.

The real awkward part is whether or not you wave when the jeep is going in your direction and is right next to you? I wave but don't glance to see if they wave. Too much eye contact. ; )
