JK and US Gear Brake ??

Jul 10, 2009 1 Replies

I am setting up my 4 door JK to tow behind my motor home and will be using the US Gear brake unit. If you have done this where did you mount the solenoid?? I know I can mount it under the driver's seat but did anyone find any better options???

I am also using the Blue Ox baseplate. I would also like to install a bumper mounted light bar but don't want to have to hack anything up. Anyone have any experience with this or light bars for the JK ???? TIA

Dunno.

Straps and rubber isolators, but they can rub the paint. magnets can also wear through paint.

On some vehicles I've seen the towed vehicle wired for trailering. i.e. the brake and turn signal lines ran to a relay box that connected to the motor home. Actually, I think U-haul sells those too. That has to be the neatest install. The one thing I don't know is what battery runs what. For brakes and turn signals it wouldn't matter but for a whole evening of towing the running lights could pull a weak battery to its knees. :/

I'd take a look at what U-haul has. The rent and sell quite a bit of towing gear.
