As you might imagine the ZJ wondered when it hit ruts. At first it was just a little bit but last week it was so bad and went bad so quickly it became obvious repairs could not be put off any longer. The key is when the bolt is no longer dead center in the bushing. Even just a bit to one side or the other is an indication things are going bad.
The old, but still decent bushings on the lower arms pushed out just fine with a hydraulic press and a large socket a bit smaller than the outer diameter. The shot bushings just shredded and left crap I had to cut out with a knife and clean up with a wire wheel. The hobby shop doesn't like you to burn them out. Even though I did bring my MAP gas torch. :/ Still though, plowing though leftovers with a wire wheel does produce just a bad a cloud of stink.
And now I'm going to hunt down and murder a large pizza.
