i want to build something like this for hanging an ar15 off a rollbar. im wondering of anybody has any plans, ideas, or links to better pictures so that i can copy the design.

Sounds like Rat Patrol (except they drove REAL JEEPs). Hey, anybody know where I can find copies of Rat Patrol???
Google "Rat Patrol" for sample video, images, etc. Personally I would rather have the Recoilless Rifle that used the single shot .50 caliber as a spotter round. If you're gonna take out that damn minivan or Volvo, might as well use something big enough to distribute the results in small enough pieces you won't be littering the highway.

Before you get to far along, I would make sure the gun will fit where you want to put it, I was going to do that for my Shotgun, and it did not fit, I was glad I went for a test fit, BEFORE is started drilling holes.

How about getting a shotgun holder meant for an ATV? They are waterproof and could be tied to the uprights.

im good in that respect. its a shorty ar15, fits with room to spare.
that would be great except that i have kids in the back seat. basically id just like to get it up out of the way, out of sight for the most part but still accessible.
